Cyprus 2006 - our return with Sid!
It was great to travel to Cyprus again. This time with 2 children in tow. Sid was 2 and we brought along my niece Sophie as well. I remember having to fly via Schipol on this trip as there were some bargain flights available. This was our first real opportunity to explore the island a little bit.
The mountains were lovely and we were able to head to the northern resort of Polis, lovely setting. This visit was over the Easter holidays and the weather wasn't always as warm as we'd have hoped. I remember the first dip in the pool which they were still filling from the aquifer under the apartments, BRRRRRR! It was so cold till it had a few days of sunshine on it. Even then if wasn't exactly warm. Highlights of this holiday were the visits to the tiny cove of Ayia Thekla, not for from Ayia Napa. It has a lovely little island off the coast you can wade out to. The bay is sheltered and really calm for the kids to splash about it. We also loved the trips into the mountains. Some lovely quiet tavernas up in little villages, the food is always better value, seems fresher and from our experience is always home cooked. |
