Elche is a nice walkable city with some lovely old streets and architecture. It felt very relaxed, almost like a sleepy little town rather than a city.
A great place to spend a quiet afternoon. We hear it's even nicer on an evening so will have to return!
Like many places in Spain there is a lot of graffiti, some of which is quite interesting. In fact the river has been turned into a huge piece of art work.
The park was lovely and shady and full of free exercise equipment as well as lots of play areas for children. The huge palm trees were quite spectacular as well.
There are several small museums and galleries around the city, however some do close during 'siesta' time so check before visiting.
