Cahuita is a small town right on the coast, most famous for it's National Park. We were about 5 kms outside of town at the fabulous eco-lodge 3 Bamboo, run by a wonderful family from France who have developed a fantastic boutique bungalow accommodation tucked away inland. The owners were always available, their pool, bbq and accommodation was excellent. A perfect place to chill and relax after a busy trip.
Close by Puerto Viejo, is a bit larger, a bit busier and has a few more tourist treats, such as the Jaguar Rescue Centre. We chose this animal refuge ahead of the Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica after reading about their successful reintegration of the injured animals they treat. Here are a few of our favourite snaps from our private tour, at $60 each it was well worth the little investment for an amazing experience.
The journey back to San Jose was an exciting ride through the mountains which finished with an amazing Indian meal in Escazu.
The end of a once in a lifetime trip? Well the end of a trip, we'll be sure to return one day.
