We had planned a 3 night stop over in Turrialba to break up our journey from Pacific coast to Caribbean Coast, with the added bonus of the chance to do some rafting. The local Turrialba cheese is good, Betico Mata (if you can find it's new location) is a great restaurant, the Casa de Lis Hostel is a nice place to stay. But beyond that it's a town we all agreed we would avoid if we returned to Costa Rica.
Anyhow, back to the rafting...
Over 4 hours on the water was hard work, the next day we all felt the strain in our shoulders and arms, but it was worth ever moment. At $80 per person, plus another $40 for the photos it isn't a cheap day out but it's worth every cent.
As a slight aside, if anyone reading the blog ends up in Turrialba and fancies Chinese food, New Hong Kong served us the worst pile of slop we've ever eaten. As a town it offers very little in the way of good food but this place was in a class of it's own for inedible swill.
Hope you are enjoying a flavour of Costa Rica as much as we've enjoyed our 4 weeks here. It might be coming to an end for us but I've still the highlights of Tortuguero and Cahuita to add when time allows.
Till then keep travelling.
