Boy could you tell the airline food had been bad, the lads ate like they had been on hunger strike for a month! Sid managed 6 slices of toast, 5 waffles and 7 pancakes! Frank wasn't far behind but added 2 sausages and some bacon into his mix. Safe to say the Centra hotel near Hualomphong Station has a good breakfast, wonderful rooms and nice beds as well.
Now to check out it's location. We were on the doorstep of China Town and the temple of the Golden Buddha was 2 minutes walk down the street so we started there.
At 3 metres high this gold Buddha was only discovered last century when the plaster covering the real gold was chipped off after being dropped!
After the trip we grabbed some street nibbles for a few baht, vegetable dumplings and fresh fruit smoothies from local vendors. Then we jumped a tuk tuk back to the hotel via the tourist info office to book a couple of trips for our return. After collecting our bags it was off to the station, a busy day!
